The Trash Truck

After William Carlos Williams’ The Red Wheelbarrow

so much depends
on the
gas-guzzling
monster

who collects the shit
we don’t want
anymore

steel jaws
snarfing down
castaways

snaking through
narrow streets

orphan remnants remain
napping next to the
zinnias
